Panchlaish Thana OC among three sued for charge of extortion
Three people including the Officer-in-Charge of Panchlaish Police Station Mohammad Nazim Uddin Majumdar have been sued on allegation of extortion.
Shamima Wahed (48), a resident of Hamzarbagh area of Panchlaish police station in Chattogram, filed the case with Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Thursday afternoon.
After a hearing today, the court directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate the case.
The rest of the accused are - Panchlaish Thana Sub-Inspector Md Zakir, 40 and Ahmed Faisal Chowdhury, 42, a resident of Rahmatganj area of the city.
Plaintiff's lawyer Afroza Akhter said that on the orders of Panchlaish police station OC Mohammad Nazim Uddin Majumdar, several policemen including Ahmed Faisal Chowdhury appeared at the house of Shamima Wahed on 16 July and demanded Tk50 lakh.
Panchlaish police station OC Mohammad Nazim Uddin Mazumder could not be reached despite several phone calls.
