Digital Health offers free insurance coverage to cover corona related expenses for one lakh people
The coverage will last for 60 days from the date of enrollment, and take effect immediately after enrollment
Digital Health (DH), previously known as Telenor Health has launched a new insurance product on Tuesday.
The new product has been named "Corona Insurance" and will cover coronavirus related expenses. It will be offered free of cost to 100,000 subscribers online on a first come first served basis.
"Corona Insurance" will provide Tk2,000 if coronavirus test result comes out positive - leading to home isolation; Tk5,000 upon hospitalization due to coronavirus and also provide Tk20,000 in cash as life insurance cover.

DH is a Grameen social business; the 100,000 free insurance policies against coronavirus will be sponsored by Grameen Telecom Trust.
The coverage will last for 60 days from the date of enrollment, and is effective immediately after enrollment.
This free offer will be valid until June 11, 2020 or until 100,000 enrollment have been achieved, if sooner. After the date no new enrollment will be accepted.
Interested individuals can enroll into the programme from the website: https://care.dh.health/insurance.
All who enroll in the program will receive a series of health videos and contents on dealing with the coronavirus.
March 28, DH launched an online coronavirus symptom checker, (https://coronachecker.dh.health/) available to everybody without any cost. In the first five days after launching, the symptom checker questionnaire was completed by 131, 590 persons. Those who were identified as higher risk were recommended to contact the Government of Bangladesh Covid-19 health lines 333 and 16263.
Both the symptom checker and "Corona Insurance" are designed to help reduce public anxiety at this critical time, and reduce the financial impact of the crisis on families and wage earners.
DH CEO Sajid Rahman said: "It is comforting to know that the vast majority of patients may not be infected by Coronavirus – they can take normal measures to recover from their fevers and sore throats. It is important that people prepare themselves and their families for Coronavirus. We expect that our effort to minimize anxiety with the Symptom checker, and the Corona Insurance, the free health and life coverage, will also help reducing additional pressure in healthcare system.
