Floating isolation unit launched in Barishal
As a precautionary measure, the 3-storey MV Surovi-8 Launch has been transformed into a Covid-19 isolation unit
A floating isolation unit was launched on Friday on a launch to treat Covid-19 patients in Barishal.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education) Prashanta Kumar Das inaugurated the new isolation unit in presence of some other high officials of the district.
"New cases are increasing everyday. As a precautionary measure, the 3-storey MV Surovi-8 Launch has been transformed into a Covid-19 isolation unit," he added.
The launch has 42 single cabins, 34 double cabins, 2 semi VIP and 4 VIP cabins.
"Some 86 patients can be accommodated in this new isolation center," he added.
Barisal Deputy Commissioner SM Aziay Rahman said, "The district administration in collaboration with Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) took the initiative to provide emergency services to coronavirus patients."
"We will transform other launches to Covid-19 isolation center if needed," he added.
