Disciplinary action taken against 412 Barishal cops for alleged involvement in crimes
Among those punished, 193 are sub-inspectors and 101 constables
Barishal police have taken disciplinary action against 412 officials of district and metropolitan police over allegations of involvement in various crimes, including corruption, drugs, and torture, in the last two years, according to police.
"Since the allegations against them have been proven, actions were taken against them according to the law," said Belayet Hossain, superintendent of Barishal police.
Among those punished, 193 are sub-inspectors and 101 constables. 173 are members of the metropolitan police and 239 of the district police.
Barishal Metropolitan Police Commissioner Shafiqul Islam said, "If a crime is proven or if there is a possibility of being proved, a departmental case is filed.
"If the allegations in the case can be proven false, the accused police members are acquitted. Otherwise, he or she will have to serve the punishment according to the law," he added.
