Railways ministry, fire service form committees to probe Bhairab rail accident
Railways ministry formed a 7-member probe committee with the joint secretary (Audit and ICT) of the ministry as convener.
The Ministry of Railways and the Directorate of Fire Service and Civil Defence have formed two different investigation committees to probe the Bhairab rail accident that left 17 people dead yesterday.
Railways ministry formed a 7-member probe committee with Joint Secretary of Railways Ministry Hasan Mahmud as the convener and Deputy Secretary Towfiq Imam as the member secretary, reports BSS.
Other members of the committee are- Joint Director Generals of Bangladesh Railway MA Salah Uddin and Tabassum Binte Islam, Deputy Secretary of Railways Ministry Mohammad Hanif, the additional tecom officer of Bangladesh Railway and the divisional medical officer.
It has been ordered to submit the report within 7 workdays.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Fire Service and Civil Defence formed the committee on Tuesday (24 October) and will be headed by fire service director Lt Colonel Mohammad Tajul Islam Chowdhury, SGP, PSC.
Other members are- Md Masud Sardar, assistant director, Mymensingh fire service, (member secretary); Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad, assistant director, Narsingdi - (member), Md Enamul Haque, assistant director, Kishoreganj (member) and Azizul Haque, station officer, Bhairab Bazar fire station (member).
The committee has been given 5 working days to submit the report
At least 17 people have been killed and over 100 others injured after two trains collided in Bhairab of Kishoreganj on Monday (23 October).
The accidents occurred when Egarosindhur Express collided with a freight train at Bhairab station.
