Suhrawardy hospital not to treat Covid-19 patients
The government has removed Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College & Hospital from the list of coronavirus designated hospitals.
Director of the hospital Dr Uttam Kumar Barua confirmed the matter to The Business Standard on Thursday.
"Suhrawardy hospital is no longer a coronavirus designated hospital. It will be considered as a general hospital like it was before," he said.
"We had completed 70-80 percent of our preparation. We trained the doctors, nurses, formed committees and changed infrastructures in order to treat coronavirus patients," he added.
Uttam Kumar further said the government has prepared big hospitals like Dhaka Medical College Hospital (old burn unit and new building) and Mugda General Hospital. That is why Suhrawardy hospital has been kept for general patients.
