Man dies in Kashimpur jail while serving life imprisonment
Ramjan was sentenced under the Prevention of Women and Children Repression Act-1997, and was sent to Kashimpur jail-1 on June 27, 2003
A convict, who was sentenced to life imprisonment, died today in Kashipur Central Jail, Gazipur.
The deceased is Ramjan Ali, 60, hailed from Pathantuli area in Shiddhirganj of Narayanganj district.
Umme Salma, jailer of Kashimpur Central Jail-1, said, "Ramjan Ali was taken to prison hospital after he fell sick with high blood pressure and shortness of breath at 6am in the morning."
"Later he was moved to Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital, where duty doctor declared him dead at 8am. Reportedly, he died of a heart attack," she added.
Ramjan was sentenced under the Prevention of Women and Children Repression Act-1997, and was sent to Kashimpur jail-1 on June 27, 2003.
