Deputy minister Nowfel’s mother tests coronavirus positive

Hasina Mohiuddin, wife of late former mayor of Chattogram City ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury and also mother of Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, has been diagnosed positive with coronavirus.

Hasina Mohiuddin is the president of Chattogram city Mohila Awami League.

Some 87 people including the Nowfel's mother tested Covid-19 positive in Chattogram on Tuesday night, said Chattogram's Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi.

248 samples were tested at Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Disease (BITID), of them 31 came positive for the virus. Among them 27 hailed from Chattogram, he added.

Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi also said, among the infected people two are the housemaids of Hasina Mohiuddin.

70 samples were tested at Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, of them 20 came positive for Covid-19.  Among them two were from Chattogram.

122 samples were examined at Chattogram Medical College and Hospital's lab, of them 54 came out positive.

Five people tested positive for the virus at Cox's Bazar Mediacl College and Hospital's lab.

Earlier, on Sunday night (May 10), Burhanul Hasan Chowdhury Salehi, the younger brother of the minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury has been diagnosed with coronavirus.

Till now 420 people tested positive for coronavirus in Chattogram and 24 died.
