Bangladesh sees highest single-day male deaths from Covid-19
In the last 21 days, 68.39 percent of the deceased coronavirus patients were male and 28.74 percent were female
Bangladesh on Saturday reported 16 more deaths from the novel coronavirus, all of them male, making it the highest number of single-day male deaths so far.
Although earlier, there had been three more days with only male deaths, the total number of fatalities was not as high.
According to a press release by the health ministry, there were five, one and eight all-male deaths due to Covid-19 reported on May 4, 5 and 9, respectively.

In the last 21 days, from April 26 to May 16, a total of 174 people died.
During the period 68.39 percent of the deceased were male and 28.74 percent were female. There is no information on the gender of 2.87 percent of the dead patients.
Bangladesh's total death toll from the deadly coronavirus rose to 314 on Saturday, while the number of total infected cases stood at 20,995.
The coronavirus infection rate in Bangladesh has risen to 12.5 percent, while the death rate has decreased to 1.5 percent.
In the past 24 hours from Friday 8am to Saturday 8am, 235 patients have recovered, taking the total number to 4,117.
At present, the recovery rate stands at 19.6 percent, while about 78.9 percent of patients are under treatment.
Globally, more than 4,646,000 people have so far been infected in 188 countries with the highly contagious coronavirus, and more than 309,000 deaths have been recorded, according to Johns Hopkins University.
