Nipun’s helping hand to fellow artistes
Nipun is trying to help those who are involved with FDC as crew members
Film actor Nasrin Akter Nipun has won the National Film Award twice for her brilliant acting skills. Over the years, she acted in many popular films such as "Babar Jonno Judhdho," "Koti Takar Fokir," "Chader Moto Bou," and many more.
Nipun acted alongside popular actors like Manna, Ferdous, Riaz, among others. However, Nipun is away from acting for a log time. Currently, she is busy with her business venture, "Tulip Aroma," which is a Thai Spa hair and beauty salon.
During the pandemic, she gave her employees paid leave with advance salaries. Nipun is trying to help those who are involved with FDC as crew members. In a recent conversation with The Business Standard, Nipun talked about her recent humanitarian activities.
"I have been trying to help the crew members of BFDC. In the beginning, I provided aid for the make-up artists, and then light men and other crew members. In the meantime, I also donated to Bangladesh Cholochitro Shilpi Samiti."
"Every day I am providing Iftari for homeless people near FDC area. I send Iftari for the traffic police offers at various signals regularly. I am trying to feed rickshaw-pullers, security guards, and less fortunate people."
"As a matter of fact, this is the perfect time to do something for people. And most people are in difficult situation which is why I have been trying to help them," she added.
Nipu is also concerned about her own safety while roaming around for charity causes. She follows proper safety protocols while stepping outside. Last Sunday, she paid a visit to an old home, "Apon Nibash," located in Uttarkhan.
She spent the day with the elderly women there. Speaking about the experience, Nipun said, "I was really upset to see the older women. I would never know how miserably they are passing the days if I had not visited the old home. There are women who once were academics, artists, writers, journalists, teachers and service holders and had versatile life, but now they are compelled to spend their life at old home due to their children's negligence."
"I brought food along with me for the elderly women who were loving mothers at some point in their lives", Nipun added.
Nipun also informed that she has arranged food for the old home residents for a month, not just for that day.
And she got full support from the airport and Uttarkhan thana police to reach the old home, amid the shutdown.
About her own company, Nipun told us, "My Tulip Aroma is closed from March 23. I have total 30 staffs including 3 Thai individuals. Every month, I have expenses around Tk10 lakh. The salon was closed on Pohela Boishakh as well. It will remain closed during the Eid holidays, which is why all the staffs are on leave at the moment."
She further added, "The staffs received full salaries and I am also taking care of the rent of the Thai girls who work at my beauty salon. In fact, I am trying to get grocery items delivered at their homes as they are trying not to spend money in this grave situation. Thus, as soon as they inform me, I send them groceries."
Although, Nipun is using her own fund to help her staffs, she also has received supports from others in charity works.
"My friends, sisters, and relatives are helping me to provide aid for other who needs it. My sisters are part of a big community in London, and members of the community are donating as well. I am trying to distribute those donations among the less fortunate properly."
Nipun urged the wealthy and privileged individuals of the society to stand by the poor, as she believes this is the perfect time serve the humanity.
