Citi Foundation to donate Tk85 lakh to materialise relief programmes
It also aims to profoundly impact the lives of the underprivileged by driving sustainable innovations around the globe
The Citi Foundation is set to contribute Tk85 Lakh to carry out relief programmes to help the hardest hit communities during the ongoing crisis triggered by the coronavirus global pandemic in Bangladesh.
The funding will be donated to Sajida Foundation, a leading non-government organisation dedicated to the purpose of bringing health, happiness and dignity in the lives of the less fortunate, said a media statement.
It also aims to profoundly impact the lives of the underprivileged by driving sustainable innovations around the globe.
The donation will be spent for the distribution of food and hygiene materials to vulnerable households and boost healthcare services in remote areas.
The project expects to reach out to over 7000 marginalised families, the media statement read.
N Rajashekaran, Citi Country Officer Bangladesh said, "This pledge from Citi Foundation exemplifies its commitment to Bangladesh and its community at large.
"The pandemic has given us the opportunity to accelerate our community engagement and extending our supports to vulnerable groups. We will continue to work with the government and other community partners in the country with sustainable approaches," he said.
Zahida Fizza Kabir, chief executive officer at Sajida Foundation said, "We laud the Citi Foundation for making a difference during this crisis. The support will bring immediate relief to vulnerable communities."
Earlier, on April 20, Citi and Citi Foundation announced a commitment of over $65 million support programme for the pandemic-hit communities around the world.
