Covid-19: Recovery rate among police on the rise
The recovery rate among police from Covid-19 is over 34 percent while the number of new cases is also dropping
One out of every three police personnel infected with Covid-19 has recuperated so far, raising the tally of total recovered in the law enforcement agency to 1,563 as of Friday.
Most of the recovered police personnel have already rejoined their posts, said a police headquarters press release.
Several initiatives have been taken up as per the directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed to ensure the best treatment available and take preventive steps, added the statement.
"Therefore, the number of new cases is decreasing while the recovery rate is on a sharp rise," claimed the press release.
Police are fighting on the frontline to stop the coronavirus spread by ensuring social distancing and health safety among people.
At least 4,544 police personnel of different ranks have tested positive for the virus so far while discharging the duties.
After taking office, newly appointed IGP Benazir Ahmed has strengthened protective measures for the law enforcement agency.
The media release said the Bangladesh Police has stocked adequate safety and medical equipment at police hospitals to ensure the best treatment and medical care available.
