Chittagong port's jetty collapses from pressure

A part of the jetty of Chittagong port has collapsed due to the pressure of steel sheet creating a 15-20 feet deep hole.
The incident took place on Sunday at the old jetty of the General Cargo Berth (GCB) at the Chittagong port.
According to Chittagong port sources, some heavy sheets of steel were placed in the middle of the jetty of number 7-8 port. But due to its old condition, it broke under the pressure of the steel sheets.
The steel sheets were immediately removed with the help of a crane.

Secretary of Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) Md Omar Faruk told The Business Standard that It will be repaired quickly.
This incident did not disrupt the operational work of the port, he added.
