Former health minister Nasim tests positive for Covid-19
Former health minister and Awami League presidium member Mohammad Nasim has been tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
Tanvir Shakil Joy, Nasim's son and former member of the parliament (MP), confirmed the matter to The Business Standard on Monday night.
"His condition is stable now, getting treatment under Professor Dr Mohiuddin Ahmed," said Al Imran Chowdhury, CEO of Bangladesh Specialized Hospital.
Earlier, Mohammad Nasim was admitted to the Bangladesh Specialized Hospital in the capital's Shyamoli area with physical weakness. He is now undergoing treatment at the hospital under the care of experts, according to Awami League party sources.
Party sources said a member of Mohammad Nasim's family was infected with coronavirus and all the family members were tested at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University three days ago. Everyone's result, then, came negative.
But Mohammad Nasim later fell physically unwell and was admitted to the hospital. Later, he was diagnosed with pneumonia.
