First tax official dies from Covid-19

An official of National Board of Revenue (NBR) died from Covid-19 infection at Dhaka Medical College Hospital Monday night.
The deceased Sudhangshu Kumar Saha, 40, was a deputy commissioner of NBR.
He breathed his last at around 11pm at intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital, his colleagues said.
He is the first tax official to die of coronavirus.
He belonged to the 27th cadre batch of the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS).
Sudhangshu tested positive for coronavirus along with his wife, 7-year-old daughter and domestic help.
His colleagues are assuming that he was infected by the virus while performing official duties. He attended office from April 28 to May 14.
He was diagnosed with Covid-19 on May 31. He was admitted to coronavirus unit-2 of the hospital that day and was given oxygen support as he was having fever and respiratory problems. Later, he was given plasma therapy too.
Earlier on June 3, a superintendent of Chattogram Customs House Md Jasim Uddin died of the virus.
