'No settlement as long as we sit on pool of blood': Ruet teachers
Urging the students not to worry, Professor of the Civil Engineering Department Akhtar Hossain, said, “They will have to shoot us before they can shoot you”
Teachers of the Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), at a programme remembering those killed in the recent quota reform movement, declared that every "murder must be prosecuted."
Standing at the foot of the campus's Shaheed Minar today (1 August), joined by students, they unitedly said there would be no settlement sitting on a pool of blood. They also called for a UN investigation into the killings.
Speaking at the event, Professor of the Civil Engineering Department Akhtar Hossain, said, "Why can't we do a reasonable movement? Is this a police country? This is our second liberation war. The movement of 2024 will be successful."
Urging the students not to worry, he said, "They will have to shoot us before they can shoot you."
Rabiul Islam, professor of the Mechanical Engineering Department, said they could not accept such barbaric killing of students.
"Every murder in the July movement must be tried."
