A familiar and disappointing Olympics for Bangladesh so far
Sagor Islam, Samiul Islam Rafi and Robiul Islam Robiul - all bowed out from their respective events of archery, swimming and shooting. The other two - Sonia Khatun and Imranur Rahman are yet to hit the ground as they have to wait till their events get going.

Three of the five Bangladesh athletes have contested so far in the Paris Olympics 2024 and there isn't much to celebrate as is always the case.
Sagor Islam, Samiul Islam Rafi and Robiul Islam Robiul - all bowed out from their respective events of archery, swimming and shooting. The other two - Sonia Khatun and Imranur Rahman are yet to hit the ground as they have to wait till their events get going.
Sagor Islam was the biggest hope for the country in the Paris Olympics as he was the only athlete to have qualified directly from Bangladesh. No one expected him to win any medal or even finish in a high position, but there was some glimpse of hope that he would at least achieve something that no one could before.
Sagor was rather unlucky in the draw where he got Mauro Nespoli, an Olympic silver medalist from Italy as his opponent. The outcome of the contest was one-sided as anticipated, Nespoli blew Sagor away with a 6-0 win.
It wasn't a good outing for Samiul Islam Rafi as he finished in 69th position out of 79 participants. The young swimmer came 5th in his heat clocking a timing of 53.10. Although, Rafi took some positives out of his performance as it was his personal best timing in 100m freestyle.
In shooting, Robiul Islam came 43rd out of 49 contestants in the 10m air rifle shooting, scoring 624.2. China's Sheng Lihao took the gold in this event, scoring 631.7. Sonia Khatun will participate in women's 50m freestyle swimming tomorrow. She'll occupy the 6th lane in the 3rd heat of the event. And Imranur Rahman will take his 100m sprint preliminary round run tomorrow as well.
With three of the five athletes already saying their goodbyes to Paris, the other two are not expected to make any exception by going through the qualifying round. Thus Bangladesh's Paris Olympic participation could be wrapped up by tomorrow, unless any miracles occur.
