Shwapno launches mobile outlet in locked-down East Rajabazar
East Rajabazar is one of the areas in Dhaka with the highest number of coronavirus patients so far
Shwapno, a leading supermarket chain in the country, has launched a mobile outlet in East Rajabazar area to reach daily necessities at the doorsteps of around 50,000 residents of the area, that went under Covid-19 lockdown from June 9.
The government has banned people from entering or leaving the area after labelling it as red-zone, because of its high rate of coronavirus infections.
East Rajabazar is one of the areas in Dhaka with the highest number of coronavirus patients so far. All persons, except doctors and members of the law enforcement agencies, are prohibited from travelling without any emergency. In this situation, the Shwapno mobile outlet has reached the area with emergency food supplies.
The market activities are being conducted in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the government's ICT Division, Cabinet Division, A2I, Bazar Bondhu and One Shop.
Daily essentials including fish, meat and other necessary products are also available in the mobile outlet.
Mahadi Faisal, head of marketing at Shwapno, said, "Shwapno's staff have been following the complete hygiene rules and providing market services maintaining personal safety. As a result, people in lockdown area do not have to go anywhere else for the daily essentials. And safety is going to be ensured in the market process."
