Cenbank to provide Tk23 crore to Chief Adviser's Relief Fund
These funds will be provided from the central bank's disaster management and Corporate Social Responsibility fund
The Bangladesh Bank has announced that it will provide Tk23 crore to the Chief Adviser's Relief and Welfare Fund.
This contribution includes a day's salary from each of the central bank's officers and employees, reads a Bangladesh Bank press release issued today (29 August).
Additionally, the central bank has decided to donate Tk5 crore to a foundation established to support the families of those injured or killed during the recent "July Revolution".
These funds will be provided from the bank's disaster management and Corporate Social Responsibility fund.
Meanwhile, Health Advisor Nurjahan Begum said thousands of people lost their lives and hundreds lost vision in their eyes during the protests for quota reform and the government's downfall.
She said the government will take responsibility for the families of those who were killed during the recent protests.
Additionally, she stated that injured individuals will receive free medical treatment.
The adviser revealed that over 400 students suffered vision loss during the anti-discrimination movement.
Mentioning that many lost sight in one eye, while others became completely blind, she said they have submitted a list of those affected to the foundation for assistance with eye care.
