First group of players return home after historic Test series win in Pakistan
The Bangladesh team, fresh from their historic series victory against Pakistan, landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Wednesday night at 11 PM.
The Bangladesh cricket team has returned home, and they were welcomed with flowers at the airport—a rare sight for the team. Such celebrations are usually absent, as there haven't been many memorable performances on foreign soil to warrant such receptions. But this time, Bangladesh's homecoming was unlike any other. Shanto, Liton, Miraz, and the rest of the team could immediately sense the difference as soon as they arrived at the airport.
The Bangladesh team, fresh from their historic series victory against Pakistan, landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Wednesday night at 11 PM. As soon as they stepped off the plane, they were showered with congratulations from everyone they encountered. There was also an official reception.
On behalf of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), a warm reception was arranged for the team returning from Pakistan after their whitewash victory. Several BCB directors greeted the players and other team members with bouquets at the airport. Among those present to welcome Shanto and his team were the newly appointed BCB directors Nazmul Abedeen Fahim, Akram Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed Mithu, and Fahim Sinha.
The Bangladesh team is returning from Pakistan in two groups. The first group included captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, Liton Kumar Das, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Sadman Islam Anik, Nahid Rana, Taijul Islam, Khaled Ahmed, and Shariful Islam. This group also included head coach Chandika Hathurusingha, chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu, and several other board officials. The remaining members of the team will return tonight at 2 AM. However, Shakib Al Hasan will not return home, as he will head to England from Pakistan to play in the County Championship.
The Pakistan tour was like a dream for the Bangladesh team. A team that had lost 12 out of their last 13 Test matches dominated the hosts with both bat and ball this time. After winning the first Test by a huge margin of 10 wickets, Bangladesh made an unbelievable comeback in the second Test, where they were initially 26 for 6 in the first innings, but still managed to pull off a 6-wicket victory. For the first time, Bangladesh not only defeated Pakistan in a Test match but also clinched the series 2-0.
