Warrant issued for arrest of ex-BASIC Bank chairman Bacchu, family
Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge Mohammed Ash Shams Zaglul Hossain passed the order
A Dhaka court today (12 September) issued an arrest warrant against former BASIC Bank chairman Sheikh Abdul Hye Bacchu and four of his family members in a corruption case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammed Ash Shams Zaglul Hossain passed the order after taking cognisance of the charge sheet over concealing Tk94.75 lakh in asset details and evading around Tk8.53 lakh in taxes.
ACC Assistant Director Neyamul Hasan Gazi, who led the investigation, pressed the charges before the court in June in the case filed in October 2023 by ACC Deputy Director Nurul Huda.

The four other accused named in the charge sheet, for whom arrest warrants were also issued, are Bacchu's wife Shirin Akhter, brother Sheikh Shariar Panna, and sons Sheikh Rafa Hai and Sheikh Sabid Hai Anik.
