Diamond World MD Dilip placed on 3-day remand in murder case
A Dhaka court today placed Diamond World Limited Managing Director Dilip Kumar Agarwal on a three-day remand in a case over killing BNP activist Ridoy Ahmed during the recent student-led mass movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan passed the order as police pleaded for seven-day remand for Dilip, who was arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Tuesday night from Gulshan.
Court sources said Dilip was placed on remand in the case lodged over killing Ridoy in front of BRAC University in the capital's Badda area on 19 July.
Ridoy was killed as police started firing indiscriminately on agitating students and people in the Badda area on 19 July.
Shahadat Hossain, joint secretary of BNP's Shibchar upazila unit of Madaripur, filed the case on 22 August against 161 persons, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehena and Sheikh Hasina's son Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
