Judge Mohammed Ash-Shams Joglul Hossain of the Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court in Dhaka passed the orders in response to three separate applications submitted by the ACC
A Dhaka court today (2 October) imposed travel bans on five individuals including former Awami League lawmaker Abdus Sobhan Golap and Bangladesh Bank's former deputy governor Sitanshu Kumar Sur Chowdhury, in connection with corruption allegations.
The three others are Shitangshu Kumar Sur Chowdhury's wife Suparna Sur Chowdhury, their daughter Nandita Sur Chowdhury and Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) Chief Engineer Ujjwal Mallik.
Judge Mohammed Ash-Shams Joglul Hossain of the Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court in Dhaka passed the orders in response to three separate applications submitted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
ACC Public Prosecutor Mir Ahmad Ali Salam moved the petitions on behalf of the ACC.
The ACC in its applications stated that investigations are underway into the graft allegations against Golap, Ujjwal, Shitangshu, Suparna, and Nandita. So, a travel ban is necessary to prevent them from leaving the country.
