Mahmudur Rahman demands ban on Chhatra League
He said Chhatra League was involved in every crime that happened in the last 16 years
Mahmudur Rahman, former acting editor of Amar Desh, today (6 October) issued a seven-day ultimatum demanding a ban on Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of Bangladesh Awami League.
"Bangladesh Chhatra League must be banned as a terrorist organisation within seven days. We are giving a seven-day ultimatum from the Amar Desh newspaper family and journalist platform. If no action is taken within this deadline, strong movement will be staged on the road," he said at a programme held at the National Press Club.
"Chhatra League was involved in every crime that happened in the last 16 years. Even the members of organisation killed thousands of students and mass people during the anti-discrimination movement," he said.
Mahmudur was released from jail on bail on 3 October in a case involving conspiracy to kidnap and attempt to kill Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and her ICT advisor.
