How to care for your tiles
Just imagine a yellow or black blotch on your perfectly white tiled floor!
Most of us have ceramic, porcelain or marble tiles on our floors. Usually there are granite tiles in kitchens and sometimes there are fancier materials used in other parts of the house.
Whatever tile we use to make our floors look attractive and at times as sparkling as a mirror, we all face a common problem: the trouble of cleaning them to ensure their durability and glow.
Putting tiles on the floor can be a very expensive and time-consuming affair.
Therefore, people try their best to make the wisest choice while they are buying tiles for their home.
And this investment is worth it. Just like the colour of the walls and other décor plans, a beautiful floor is enough to significantly change the look of a house.
However, when it comes to cleaning tiled floors, it is a different task altogether.
That is because keeping them stain and dust-free is not easy. If dirt becomes stuck between tiles, it can potentially make them lose their glaze.
Then how do you fix it? By ensuring that you regularly clean the tiles, you can keep them shining for a long time.
But the cleaning process is not a regular one and there are a few things that you need to keep in mind while polishing and prepping them.
Firstly, do not let any loose dust settle on the tile or in the gaps in between.
You need to regularly sweep the floor with a duster or a vacuum cleaner to get rid of them.
No matter what kind of tiles they are, it is important to ensure that dust does not settle on them, because otherwise, the floor would start to look dull.
You can choose any vacuum cleaner which is available in markets. All of them pretty much do the same job.
Secondly, get the right mop. In Bangladesh, floors are usually mopped by hand with the help of a rag and a bucket full of water.
It is an inconvenient way of mopping floors. This is a heavy task which can take a toll on the spine and at the same time, not get the floors fully cleaned.
Therefore, to clean the floor properly you should use stick mops. Make sure to buy the ones whose mop portions can be easily dried by squeezing or spinning the water out of them.
Floors are the most used part of the house because we trod on them all the time. Dirt from our shoes can stain them. Spilling food or other things and dragging furniture can also leave stains.
Just imagine a yellow or black blotch on your perfectly white tiled floor!
However, it is perfectly normal to get a stain from time to time, and if your floor gets one, you can immediately remove it by using soapy water, ordinary floor cleaners or a hydrogen peroxide solution. And your floor would be spick and span!
