Former Islamic Foundation DG Shamim Mohammad Afzal dies
He breathed his last at 10:20 pm while undergoing treatment at Central Hospital in the capital
Former Director General of the Islamic Foundation Shamim Mohammad Afzal died at a hospital in Dhaka Thursday night.
He was 65.
Misbahur Rahman Choudhury, governor of the Board of Governors of the foundation confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
"Mohammad Afzal breathed his last at 10:20 pm while undergoing treatment at Central Hospital. He was admitted to the hospital from his residence at Mohammadpur at around 10:00 pm as his health condition deteriorated," he added.
He left behind his wife, a daughter and a host of relatives and admirers.
He also said that the first Namaz-e-Janaza of Afzal will be held after Fazr prayer at Johuri Moholla Mosque on Friday, the second one will be held at Narinda Shahsaheb Mosque premises at 8am.
Director General of the Islamic Foundation Anis Mahmud expressed deep shock at the death of former DG of Islamic Foundation.
He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and for the bereaved family he left behind to mourn the death.
Afzal started his service as assistant Judge at Sylhet in 1983. He served the position of senior assistant Judge, Sub-Judge, additional district and sessions Judge in different districts of the country.
He was DG of the Islamic Foundation from 2009 to 2019.
