Bank accounts of Premier Bank Chairman Iqbal, family frozen
The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has ordered banks to freeze accounts of Premier Bank Chairman and HBM Iqbal and his family members.
The BFIU sent a letter in this regard to all banks in the country last week, sources familiar with the matter told The Business Standard.
According to the letter, the bank accounts of former member of parliament HBM Iqbal, his two wives Anjum Ara Shilpi and late Mumtaz Begum, two sons Moinuddin Iqbal and Ikram Iqbal, and daughter Naureen Iqbal were ordered to be frozen from 11 November to 10 December.
Bank accounts of companies solely owned by the individuals were also ordered to be frozen.
The letter also instructed the banks to provide details of these accounts within four working days.
