Police-magistracy conference held in Barishal
A police-magistracy conference was held in Barishal on Saturday, November 16, 2024. Organised by the Barishal Judicial Magistracy, the event took place in the conference room of the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court.
The Senior District and Sessions Judge, Sheikh Faruq Hossain, attended as the chief guest, while Chief Judicial Magistrate Md. Masudur Rahman presided over the session. The conference underscored the importance of the timely submission of case reports for smooth proceedings, emphasising ensuring witness appearances in court as required.
Key attendees included District Superintendent of Police Md. Belayet Hossain, PBI Superintendent of Police Md. Humayun Kabir, Civil Surgeon Dr. Maria Hasan, Additional District Magistrate Lusikanta Hajong, District Public Prosecutor Adv. Abul Kalam Azad, the President of the District Lawyers' Association, and representatives from ACC, RAB-8, CID, River Police, the Department of Narcotics Control, and Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital and College. Judicial Magistrate Renessa Khan moderated the session.
The conference focused on enhancing coordination between magistrates and the police to expedite case resolutions, ensure the timely presentation of witnesses, and prompt submission of medical certificates by healthcare professionals. Participants also discussed challenges in the justice system and proposed solutions, with guidelines issued for addressing key issues.
Officers-in-charge of Barishal district police stations and members of the print media were also present at the conference.
