DRMC students end demonstration on Mirpur Road; gridlocks continue
The one-and-a-half demonstration that started around 11am had caused severe gridlock on both sides of Mirpur Road
Students of Dhaka Residential Model College (DRMC) in the capital have demonstrated in front of their institution and blocked Mirpur Road for an hour, demanding the restoration of merit-based admissions and the removal of the lottery-based system.
Their demonstration continued for an hour and a half. It started around 11:00am and ended at 12:30pm.
"The students left Mirpur Road around 12:30pm after an hour of blockade," said Tania Sultana, additional deputy commissioner of Tejgaon Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
Meanwhile, the one-hour-long demonstration that started around 11am had caused severe gridlock on both sides of Mirpur Road.
Earlier, the students campaigned online in support of their demands and carried out the blockade as scheduled.
