Jamaat vows to uphold sovereignty, public security if elected

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the nation's independence and sovereignty while ensuring the security of the citizens if the party comes to power.

"If people elect Jamaat and allow us to lead the country, we will build a country free from discrimination and corruption," the party's Central Executive Council Member and Dhaka North unit Ameer Mohammad Selim Uddin said while inaugurating a fair-price vegetable sale centre in the capital's Uttara today (19 November).

He said Jamaat activists are not engaged in corruption and extortion. They do not believe in nepotism.

Speaking about the Islamic Banking System, Selim claimed, "Jamaat played a vital role in removing the unemployment problem in the country. We have created a huge number of jobs in the banking sector and many people are working here."

Jamaat also established a lot of schools, colleges, universities, hospitals, and other serviceable institutions. The party has worked for infrastructure development as well, he said.

He urged everyone to work together with Jamaat to build a prosperous Bangladesh.

The Jamaat leader also said the party has been working to build a clean, humanitarian, and pollution-free city.

He alleged that the fascist Awami League judicially killed party leaders and illegally banned Jamaat.

Selim also urged the interim government to immediately control price hikes.
