Int’l tradeshow Leathertech begins in Dhaka
Nearly 200 exhibitors from 20 countries have participated in the 10th international technology tradeshow
The 10th international technology tradeshow 'Leathertech Bangladesh 2024' focusing on leather, footwear machinery, shoe materials, chemical and accessories for footwear and leather goods sector began today (21 November) at the Expo Zone of International Convention City, Bashundhara in Dhaka.
Shah Mohammad Mahboob, executive member (additional secretary), marketing and communication, Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), was present as the chief guest at the inauguration programme, while AKM Mushfiqur Rahman Masud, president of the Leather Engineers and Technologists Society, Bangladesh, Md Golam Shahnewaz, managing director of Dhaka Tannery Industrial Estate Wastage Treatment Plant Company Ltd, Mohiuddin Ahmed Mahin, chairman of the Bangladesh Finished Leather, Leather Goods, and Footwear Exporters' Association, Major (retd) Rafiqul Islam, secretary general of the Leather Goods and Leather Footwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association, Hazi Md Fazlu, acting president of the Bangladesh Paduka Prostutkarak Samity, Eric Illing, managing director of Wilhelm Textiles, and a representative of IFCOMA were present, among others, at the event, according to a press release.
Shah Mohammad Mahboob, executive member of BIDA, said, "If the full potential of the leather and leather products sector can be utilised, it will be possible to significantly increase the country's export earnings. This exhibition of leather, leather products and sector-related technology products will play an important role in increasing exports."
"Participation from China has revived as their participation for the current edition is significant which in turn reflects the potential of the footwear and leather products sector in Bangladesh. Over the years Leathertech Bangladesh has established itself as 'The Leather Industry Networking Forum' for the footwear and travel goods sector. The exhibit profile is comprehensive and the local industry can benefit from the presence of global leaders at the three-day show," said Nandagopal K, director ASK Trade and Exhibitions Pvt Ltd, organiser of the trade show.
Nearly 200 exhibitors from 20 countries have participated in the 10th international technology tradeshow. Over the years it has become the most preferred platform to penetrate and explore the Bangladesh leather, footwear and travel goods sector.
