It's Caturday!
Show your feline babies some extra love today because this day is for just them.
August 8 has been being celebrated as International Cat Day or World Cat Day since the International Fund for Animal Welfare created it in 2002. This day is dedicated to raise awareness for cats and learn about ways to help and protect them.
World Cat Day is an opportunity to take some time out to connect with our furry friends, to commemorate the special bond between humans and cats. It is a day to celebrate cats, for the love of cats and advocate for the well-being and safety of cats locally and worldwide.
Cats have been human companions for at least 9,500 years, and are currently the most popular pet in the world. But a cat is so much more than a pet. Studies show that interactions with cats may improve health and reduce physical responses to stress. Having a cat in the household may also improve psychological health by providing emotional support to people suffering from depression, anxiety and loneliness.
They are just purrfect!
A fur baby also teaches one to be responsible for another life. So, celebrate the day doing something special for your kitty cats. Buy them new toys or do a fun photoshoot. Get them their favourite treats.
And if you don't have a cat yet or thinking of getting a pet, just get one. Because in the words of the great Charles Dickens, "What greater gift than the love of a cat?"
