Some 2,257 Rohingyas reach Bhasan Char in 5th phase

Around 2,257 Rogingya people have reached Noakhali's Bhasan Char today as a part of their relocation in the fifth phase.
They reached Bhasanchar between 1pm and 2pm on Wednesday, Bhasanchar police station OC Mohammad. Mahe Alam confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
Six vessels of Bangladesh Navy left the Chattogram Boat Club around 10:00 am on Wednesday carrying the Rohingyas, said Mohammad Shamsu Douza, the government's additional commissioner of refugee, relief and repatriation.
Earlier, they were transported by bus to first Chattogram from Ukhia Degree College premises of Cox's Bazar in several phases on Tuesday.
Besides, another batch of Rohingya group numbering 1,500, will leave Cox's Bazar today for Bhasan Char.
According to the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner office in Cox's Bazar, some 9,540 Rohingyas have been relocated to Bhasan Char from the Cox's Bazar camp in four phases till 15 February. In the first phase, 1,642 Rohingyas voluntarily went to Bhasan Char on 4 December. Then on 29 December, 1,805 Rohingyas went to Bhasan Char in the second phase. In the third phase, 3,200 Rohingyas were transferred to Bhasan Char on 28 and 29 January. In the fourth phase, 2,014 Rohingyas on 14 February and 879 Rohingyas on 15 February left the temporary transit camp of Ukhiya College for Bhasan Char.
