Doctor pleads guilty in Matthew Perry overdose case
Dr Mark Chavez has pleaded guilty in connection to the overdose death of actor Matthew Perry. Chavez, 54, admitted to conspiring to distribute ketamine, a drug found in Perry's system following his death in October 2023.
Operating a ketamine clinic, Chavez sold the drug to Dr Salvador Plasencia, who supplied it to Perry. Perry, best known for his role on 'Friends,' was found dead at his California home. Chavez is among five people charged in the case.
Prosecutors revealed that Perry had received over $50,000 worth of ketamine in the weeks before his death. Chavez faces up to 10 years in prison and has surrendered his medical license while awaiting sentencing in April 2025.
