Feu premieres 30 January
The Chorki original series 'Feu', inspired by the 1979 Marichjhapi massacre, is set to release on 30 January 30 at midnight. Directed by Sukarna Sahed Dhiman, historical fiction delves into the political turmoil of the Sundarbans, blending real-life events with fictional storytelling.
Explaining the series' title, Dhiman said, "Feu embodies fear and persistence, reflecting the region's political narrative and human struggles." The script, developed over five years and through 17 drafts, captures the complexities of refugee resettlement, eviction, and violence.
Chanchal Chowdhury, who plays Sunil, a photographer, described his role as capturing the essence of history through his camera. "There's a shadow of history in Feu, and my character holds pieces of it," he shared, recalling the challenges of shooting in the Sundarbans' extreme cold and crocodile-infested waters.
Tariq Anam Khan portrays Kazi, a powerful figure rooted in the region's politics. Reflecting on his experience, Khan noted the authenticity of the language and local interactions during filming.
Mostafizur Noor Imran, playing Marshal, underwent a physical and mental transformation for his role. "Working in unexplored parts of the Sundarbans was a terrifying yet rewarding experience," he said.
Feu promises to be a gripping tale, weaving history, politics, and survival into a unique narrative.
