Jaya wins Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress
She is the first Bangladeshi actor to win Filmfare.
Bangladeshi actor Jaya Ahsan has won the Filmfare Awards (Bangla) 2020 in the category of Best Actress (Critics) for her roles in "Bijoya" and "Robibar".
The Business Standard contacted the versatile actress today in the morning. She expressed her happiness through WhatsApp.
Jaya Ahsan said, "This is my second Bangla Filmfare Award. I have received the award for my films Bijoya and Robibar. This award feels more special as I was able to receive it with my own hands. All of the people out here are happy about my win, especially the people of my fraternity."
"There was a time when only the big celebrities would have the beautiful Filmfare Awards in their hands or on their shelf. I really cannot express what an honour it is for me to receive this award. I never could imagine receiving this award. It feels really great receiving such a prestigious honour."
Jaya won Filmfare for the first time in 2018 for her performance in the movie "Bishorjon" released in 2017. She is the first Bangladeshi actor to win Filmfare.
Popular actor Prosenjit Chatterjee starred opposite Jaya in the movie directed by Indian Filmmaker Atanu Ghosh and Bijoya movie has been directed by Kaushik Ganguly. Although the two movies are from West Bengal, the viewers of both Bengals have enjoyed the picture.
A total of 21 categories have been awarded this time. The Filmfare Awards are a set of awards that honour artistic and technical excellence in the Hindi-language film industry of India. The Filmfare ceremony is one of the most famous film events in India.
