Love is in the Disney air!

The world is full of wonderful Disney flicks, and undoubtedly the most iconic are the ones about animated princesses. These leading ladies have funny sidekicks, memorable songs and, of course, love stories. Disney couples are among the most romantic couples ever. Some Disney couples were simply meant to be, some were barely even friends, and others just needed to see the light. These Disney couples will forever be examples that, no matter what, love truly does conquer all. Love may seem like a fairy-tale in a Disney movie, but these couples had to fight all the odds for their magical happy ending.

Princess Anna and Kristoff  

He may be a bit of a fixer-upper and she may have gone for the wrong guy at first, but in the end, they found each other. They started as an unlikely pair, thrown together in a crazy journey involving a very dramatic sleigh chase, one adorable snowman, and one frozen heart by the name of Hans. With the help of some lovable trolls and a reindeer named Sven, these two realized that some people are worth melting for.

Jack Skellington and Sally 

Jack and Sally live in a world full of frights and strange sights, but through it all, they became dearest friends. They are perfectly matched in every way, and when they sing to each other on a snowy hill in Halloween Town, it's at the same time melancholy and romantic. They truly are simply meant to be.

Mulan and Shang 

Mulan is fierce and independent—both qualities that you could also use to describe Shang. As the Emperor said, "you don't meet a girl like that every dynasty." The moment when Shang realises this and then finds Mulan at her home is one of the most romantic moments ever. Until Grandmother Fa says, "Would you like to stay forever?" and kind of makes it awkward. But, really, that just made the whole moment more adorable.

Meg and Hercules 

Meg was not going to fall in love. She wasn't going to say she was in love. She was going to avoid love at all costs. But when Hercules walks into your life, that can change. At the moment when Meg sacrifices herself for Hercules, she says to him, "People do crazy things when they're in love." This is one of our favourite romantic moments, and so, so true.

WALL.E and EVE 

WALL.E and EVE are as opposite as can be, but they truly saved one another. Our favourite romantic moment between them is when they are in space. WALL.E hands a plant to EVE and when she kisses him, literal sparks fly (because they are robots), making WALL.E float off in a cloud of happiness. It's so cute and beautiful and romantic, and brilliant because again, they are robots, yet they make us feel all of the emotions at once. WALL.E learns courage from EVE, while EVE learns selflessness and love. It's a soulful and humane relationship between two robots. 

Snow White and Prince Ferdinand

The first Disney film ever was Snow White, and its love story is sort of a basis for all the rest: A girl is in trouble, and a prince rescues her while falling in love, too, of course. The prince was known as Prince Florian since the franchise started, but the name is also rumored to be Prince Ferdinand. He and Snow White are the original romantic Disney couple. If you haven't seen the moment where the Prince sings to Snow White on her balcony, we suggest that you watch that scene immediately. During it, Snow White sends a dove down to the Prince. The dove lands on the Prince's hand and blushes, as doves are wont to do. It's a beautiful, classic, magical Disney meeting that marks many more romantic moments throughout the film.

Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip 

Speaking of classic Disney couples, nothing is more romantic than these two dancing together. In Sleeping Beauty, fans meet Princess Aurora, who is cursed by Maleficent; the girl falls into a deep sleep that can only be ended with true love's kiss. This is a classic tale, one that has been referenced, parodied, retold and admired for years and years. Of course, the true love here is Prince Phillip, a dashing man who saves the day and whisks the princess away. Remember when Phillip wakes Aurora up with true love's kiss and they dance in the castle ballroom? It's so romantic that they end up dancing in the clouds. 

Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen 

This couple had to go through many trials and tribulations to find their happily ever after, and it was all worth it. The moment when frog Tiana and frog Naveen get married and kiss, and then is transformed back into humans, is absolutely magical. Even better, we then see them put in the hard work to make Tiana's restaurant dreams finally become a reality. As Tiana says, "Dreams really do come true."

Cinderella and Prince Charming 

Cinderella and Prince Charming are probably the most well-known Disney couple—and for good reason. Like so many other classic Disney couples, their most romantic moment is when they dance at the ball. They continue to dance outside of the palace, under the stars. You can't get any more romantic than that. As everyone knows, her stepmother made her cook and clean, but this girl made her way to the royal ball. The prince fell for her, and with the help of her misplaced glass slipper, he found her again, took her away and helped create one of the most memorable love stories and Disney films of all time - one which teaches fans to be patient, to work hard, to believe in our wishes and to chase after our dreams.   

Princess Jasmine and Aladdin 

These two first met when Jasmine is disguised in Agrabah. Then they meet again in the palace when Aladdin is disguised as Prince Ali. They ride on a magic carpet all over the world and fall in love. This pretty much sets the bar for romantic dates going forward. After both of them struggle to be someone they are not, they finally realise that who they are is enough, and thus a diamond in the rough and a princess that is not a prize to be won found each other. They come from different worlds, and even though Aladdin was not totally honest about who he was (and even though Jasmine was expected to marry someone royal) they, too, belonged together. 

Pocahontas and John Smith 

John Smith and Pocahontas first meet in a misty cloud somewhere under a waterfall. If that doesn't say romance, we don't know what does. But that's just the beginning. Pocahontas sings "Colours of the Wind" to John Smith and the wind and leaves swirl around them. Then Pocahontas risks her life to save John Smith's in a moment of true courage. As John Smith says, "I'd rather die tomorrow than live a hundred years without knowing you." AH!!!!

Ariel and Prince Eric 

We wish we could have our friend Sebastian the crab sing "Kiss the Girl" on every date we go on. Even with Scuttle squawking in the background, and eels lurking, it is one of the most romantic Disney moments we can think of. Oh, and also the moment they first meet. And pretty much any moment they are together. The Little Mermaid is a popular film about a mermaid who sees this other world upon the land. The land that is full of dancing, days in the sun and a handsome man named Eric. He thinks Ariel is a breath of fresh air, too, but they hit some speed bumps along the way (Thanks a lot, Ursula.) In the end, though, love wins, Ariel joins her prince on land, and they become part of each other's worlds. 

Bella and Beast 

Who could ever learn to love a beast? That would be Belle. In Beauty and the Beast, a girl allows herself to be trapped in a castle with a beast, to save her father. This girl, Belle, is one of the strongest and smartest of all the Disney princesses, though, so she used her time wisely. She got to know her captor. She realised that he was just hurting. So she helped him heal. She can see past the coarse and unrefined exterior of the Beast through time and patience. And in turn, Beast learns to be kind and caring. His spell was broken and she found adventure in the great wide somewhere, and it is one of the most romantic and magical tales that has ever been told. 

Rapunzel and Flynn Rider 

Rapunzel's story has been told over and over, such as when Tangled was released. The main characters here are the princess and a thief named Flynn; he uses the tower that she is locked away in as a refuge, so she asks him to help her escape. They are not too sure about each other at first (even Pascal, her chameleon, is skeptical!), but they save each other and fall in love. Rapunzel and Flynn spend a great deal of time chasing their own dreams, but when they finally find Rapunzel's dream, they realise a new dream together

Carl and Ellie 

Carl and Ellie were childhood friends turned sweethearts. They lived in a perfect house, with a slightly imperfect mailbox, and they planned many adventures together. They are a reminder that the adventure that we seek is not always in faraway places like Paradise Falls. Love, romance, and adventure can very much be in the small things we do daily for one another—and every second of it counts. In a serious heart-breaking moment, Ellie passes away, leaving Carl alone with his balloons and their lovely home. It is incredibly sad, though they truly did experience a life of love and adventure with one another.

Lady and The Tramp

The animals that are featured in many Disney movies are involved in some of these amazing love stories, too. For instance, Lady and Tramp prove that opposites attract. As their names suggest, Lady is from a refined household and has a sophistication about her, while Tramp is, well, a tramp who lives a rowdy life out on the streets. They can't help it, though. They felt that pull. They ate that spaghetti. They created one of the best-known love scenes of all time. They are another adorable couple on this list, from another beloved movie.

Mickey and Minnie 

Mickey and Minnie Mouse have incredible staying power. For generations and generations and generations, Mickey and Minnie have been in love. Minnie's first appearance is in the animated short film called Plane Crazy, where she and Mickey are acquainted, but not quite in love. The short revolves around Mickey's attempt to fly a plane while also trying to steal a kiss from a very unwilling Minnie. Later in the same year, however, Minnie and Mickey were presented as a couple and presumably have been together ever since.

Peter Pan and Wendy

Peter Pan – that mischievous young boy who will never, ever grow up – becomes enamoured with Wendy Darling when he chases his shadow through her bedroom window. Peter's lack of realism is so disturbing that he even suggests Wendy come to Neverland as his "mother," though he only knows a "mother" to be someone who reads bedtime stories and takes care of the wild ruffians. But Peter and Wendy have more than that to their relationship. Wendy really loved Peter, which is proven throughout the story's many incarnations. Hook is a perfect, albeit strange interpretation of what happens when Peter and Wendy grow up. Yes, Wendy is a million years older than Peter in Hook, but there is still that sweet scene between the two when they are alone in "Granny Wendy's" room. Highly inappropriate, considering Peter "Banning" actually married Wendy's granddaughter, but that is neither here nor there.
