Shrek 5 delayed again, new co-director announced
DreamWorks Animation has announced that Conrad Vernon will return to co-direct 'Shrek 5' alongside Walt Dohrn.
Vernon, known for co-directing 'Shrek 2' and voicing the Gingerbread Man, brings extensive experience, including 'The Addams Family' films, 'Sausage Party', and 'Madagascar 3'.
The release of 'Shrek 5' has been postponed from 1 July 2026, to 23 December 2026. Meanwhile, 'Minions 3', initially set for summer 2027, will now occupy the July 2026 slot. Brad Abelson ('Minions: The Rise of Gru') will join as co-director, with Gina Shay and Illumination's Chris Meledandri producing.
Shay, a DreamWorks veteran, previously produced 'Shrek Forever After', while Meledandri's Illumination is behind hits like 'Despicable Me' and 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie'.
Fans of the franchise eagerly anticipate the return of the beloved ogre with this powerhouse creative team.
