'Slumdog Millionaire' sequel on its way
The Oscar-winning 'Slumdog Millionaire' (2008) is set for a potential sequel and TV series.
Former Netflix executive Swati Shetty and ex-CAA agent Grant Kessman's production company have secured rights to adapt the iconic film, though no production or release dates are confirmed.
It's unclear if original cast members Dev Patel or Freida Pinto will reprise their roles.
Directed by Danny Boyle, the film follows Jamal Malik (Patel) as he reflects on his life while competing on 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?'. The movie grossed $378 million globally, won eight Academy Awards, and became a cultural phenomenon. Patel who recently directed the acclaimed 'Monkey Man', has not confirmed involvement in the new projects.
