Twasin Twaha gifts art piece to the Embassy of the State of Palestine
On 20 January, calligraphy artist Twasin Twaha revealed on his Facebook page that he recently gifted one of his pieces to the Embassy of the State of Palestine, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Yousef S. Y. Ramadan, Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary of the Embassy of the State of Palestine, Dhaka-Bangladesh received the piece.
Titled, 'Motherland or Death' the Arabic calligraphy covers the length of the entire canvas. The piece was displayed in TSC on 29 November 2024, on International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people, for the occasion of a rally, 'March for Palestine'.
'Motherland or Death' is a public engagement piece, which allowed people to sign or leave their handprint on the canvas while it was displayed at TSC.
"We did not plan to gift the piece before, we initially wanted to auction it and do something for the people who were affected by the July revolution. I received the invitation before the ceasefire. However, as the ceasefire was announced, we decided to gift the piece to the Embassy of the State of Palestine," shared Twaha.
