Watch out for these PlayStation 5 exclusives!
Between Sony’s much anticipated next-gen console and Microsoft’s absolute beast Xbox Series X, launch lineups will massively influence the decision of many gamers
There is little doubt that the PlayStation dominates the current generation of consoles. Exclusives make a system stand out from its competitors, and it is easily one of PlayStation's greatest strengths.
The PlayStation 5 is slated for a holiday 2020 release. Between Sony's much anticipated next-gen console and Microsoft's absolute beast Xbox Series X, launch lineups will massively influence the decision of many gamers.
Sony has been tight-lipped about its next-gen console, and confirmed only one PS5 exclusive so far. But we can make some predictions based on previous PS console exclusives.
Godfall
Godfall, a third-person fantasy looter-slasher RPG, is the first confirmed title for the PS5.
The title combines fantasy ARPG-style loot progression and souls-like melee combat system that can be experience in both single-player and co-op. A short clip teased in 2019 gave us an extended insight on how the game looks and plays.
The environments showed enchanted forests, ancient ruins and mountains in the sky. It seems like we will also be able to imbue swords with elements like fire and electricity.
The world of Godfall is split up into the realms of Earth, Water, Air, Fire and Spirit. We will play as one of the last remnants of an exalted Knight's Order intent on stopping the apocalypse and preserving the last vestiges of their world.
Ghost of Tsushima
Developer Sucker Punch announced Ghost of Tsushima back in 2017, and released a few stunning trailers since then.
You will play as Jin Sakai, one of the last survivors of a noble samurai clan fighting the Mongol invasion of Japan in 1274.
Gameplay will focus on open-world third person sword fighting and stealth action. If Akira Kurosawa made a video game, it would look pretty much like the Ghost of Tsushima.
The game looks gorgeous, stylish, and cinematic.
The PS5 version might increase the frame rate and offer an overall performance boost. The PS5 will also support ray tracing, which will be a welcome addition to Ghost of Tsushima's already stellar visuals.
God of War 2
The God of War, a brutal third-person action game and the most recent successor of the decade-old GoW series, rocked the PS4 scene when it came out in 2018.
There is no news on a sequel as yet, but we know Kratos and Atreus' story is far from over. The father-son demigod duo is destined to bring about Ragnarok – the prophesied end of the world in the Norse mythology.
Kratos is no stranger to death and destruction, and has already triggered one apocalypse by wiping out almost the entire Greek pantheon in a fit of rage.
The previous game ended with god of thunder Thor knocking at Kartos' door, and we doubt he is very happy about the father-son duo murdering his sons in self-defence.
Gran Turismo 7
Garn Turismo, considered by many as the greatest console racing simulator of all time, will definitely make an appearance on the PS5.
Gran Turismo Sport, the most recent game of the series that came out for PS4, enjoyed steady updates of free cars and tracks, making it one of the best values in the genre.
Gran Turismo head Honcho Kazunori Yamauchi has already promised PSVR 2.0 support for the upcoming title. VR simulation racing is an incredible experience, offering one of the most immersive, engaging and stunningly real experiences available on the market.
The PS5 is even rumoured to support 8K performance for Gran Turismo 7, something even the most hardcore PC sim-racing titles cannot offer.
Horizon Zero Dawn 2
Horizon Zero Dawn came out in 2017 for the PS4, and swept us off our feet with an excellent central character in an original post-apocalyptic fantasy science fiction setting.
The game slowly unveiled its story layer by layer about the reason behind the apocalypse and the identity of Aloy – the red-haired heroine who spends her time hunting dangerous mechanised animals.
Millennia ago, humanity developed a self-sustaining AI that stripped the world bare of any biological life. The disaster caused a mass extinction of all living organisms, but humans were able put together a contingency plan just before getting wiped out.
The sequel, which is already in the works, has the opportunity to vastly expand on an already impressive franchise.
