What to look forward to at DIFF

Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) will be screening 220 films from across the globe, as well as local talent, at six different venues in Dhaka, till 19 January. 

TBS chooses some of the top films to look forward to being screened in the upcoming days.

Bangladesh National Museum Main Auditorium

19.01.25 at 7 PM - 'Boli' (The Wrestler) directed by Iqbal H Chowdhury (Bangladesh): An old man from a fishing village who dares to challenge a wrestling champion to a fight.

17.01.25 at 7 PM - 'Dear Maloti' (Priyo Maloti) directed by Shankha Das Gupta (Bangladesh): Devastated by a fire that leaves her husband missing, Maloti commences her journey to earn a living. 

National Museum- Sufia Kamal Auditorium Shahbagh

12.01.25 at 3 PM - 'Chuma' (Plague) directed by Dmitrii Davydov (Russia): After Dima humiliates the timid Ivan in front of his son, the teenager loses respect for his father and begins spending more time with his bully.

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, National Art Gallery Auditorium, Dhaka-1000

17.01.25 at 5.30 PM - 'Shoroter Joba' directed by Kusum Sikder (Bangladesh): Adapted from the book, 'Ojagatik Chhaya', the story is about the life of a mysterious woman, following a tale of unrequited love, trauma, and death.

Alliance Francaise de Dhaka

13.01.25 at 10.30 AM - 'The Last Postmen' directed by Saad Alessamy (Iraq): A socially isolated postman clings to an outdated way of life in a rapidly modernised, technology-driven society.

North South University (NSU) Auditorium, Dhaka-1229

17.01.25 at 5.00 PM - Julyer Chithi (July's Letter) directed by Md.Lahul Miah (Bangladesh): A story following the harrowing tales of the July-August uprising

Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) Auditorium, Purbachal, Dhaka.

17.01.25 at 5.00 PM - Padatik directed by Srijit Mukherji (India): Mrinal Sen's transformative journey from his early struggles as an idealistic filmmaker during India's independence to his role in the 1950s Indian New Wave alongside Satyajit Ray.
