10 cricketers in isolation as Covid-19 precaution
The BCB has informed that 10 cricketers have been instructed to isolate themselves in the academy building due to Covid-19 concerns.
Ahead of the Sri Lanka tour, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 27-men squad for skill training. After six months, cricketers started practising as a team on September 20. But not all the cricketers took part in the training. 16 cricketers were seen training in the Mirpur Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Saif Hassan who earlier tested positive for Covid-19 has been in self-isolation in his residence. The BCB has informed that 10 cricketers have been instructed to isolate themselves in the academy building for Covid-19 concerns.
The cricketers and the supporting staff have already undergone two rounds of Covid-19 screening. In the second phase, all of them other than Saif Hassan tested negative. But two of them have a cold. They along with the eight cricketers coming in contact with them have gone into isolation as instructed by the BCB.
The cricketers who have isolated themselves in the academy ground are Mohammad Mithun, Hasan Mahmud, Nayeem Hasan, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Khaled Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain, Abu Jayed, Mosaddek Hossain, Shafiul Islam and Mohammad Saifuddin.
The cricketers and the staff will undergo the third round of testing on September 21. In this phase, these ten cricketers and Saif Hassan will also be tested. If their results turn out negative, they will be able to start training.
Regarding this, BCB's senior media manager Rabeed Imam said, "All of them have tested negative. Two of them showed symptoms and that's why they have been instructed to isolate themselves. Eight of them came in contact with them. They have been given the same instruction."
Despite being isolated, these cricketers haven't been sitting idle. Mithun, Shanto, Ebadot and Mosaddek did some fitness training separately in the academy ground for more than an hour.
