All it takes is just one ball to change the game: Ariful
In the post-match press conference, he said he knew it would only take a ball to change the whole match. He also mentioned that it was quite okay that the players were struggling a bit since they returned to competitive cricket after a long hiatus.
Ariful Haque did a miracle against Fortune Barishal. His team needed 22 off the last over, he himself was struggling to hit big. It seemed all over for the Gemcon Khulna side. Tamim Iqbal brought in experienced campaigned Mehidy Hasan Miraz to bowl the last over, and Ariful made the best possible use of a spinner bowling the final over. He hit 4-sixes and sealed a thrilling victory over Barishal, which at one stage seemed impossible.
Ariful, however, kept believing in himself. In the post-match press conference, he said he knew it would only take a ball to change the whole match. He also mentioned that it was quite okay that the players were struggling a bit since they returned to competitive cricket after a long hiatus.
"Cricket is a game of uncertainty. All it takes is just one ball to change the whole game sometimes," said Ariful after his last over heroics.
Ariful further said that his team might be one of the strongest sides of the tournament, but they will have to play good cricket on the field to win matches.
"If we assume that we are the better team, we will not actually win matches, that's not how cricket is played. We faced a tough situation today, maybe in some other matches, we will win comfortably. This is the way to adapt," Ariful added.
Ariful Haque was adjudged the player of the match for his unbeaten 48 off 34 deliveries which led his side to the victory.
