'All the people in Bangladesh are happy': Litton says after Tigers win T20I series against Windies
Despite struggling with the bat, captain Litton Das guided his team to back-to-back wins in the first two matches, sealing the series with one game to spare.
Bangladesh have achieved a historic milestone by securing their first T20I series victory on West Indian soil.
Despite struggling with the bat, captain Litton Das guided his team to back-to-back wins in the first two matches, sealing the series with one game to spare.
"I am very happy. Not just me, but all the people in Bangladesh are happy. This is the kind of victory we were hoping for," said Litton, reflecting the collective joy of the team and their supporters.
The success was unexpected given the context. After a 3-0 whitewash in the preceding ODI series and with T20 cricket considered the team's weakest format, Bangladesh entered the series under immense pressure.
However, the young squad defied expectations, showing resilience and determination to secure a remarkable turnaround.
In the first T20I, Bangladesh defended a modest total of 147 to claim a narrow seven-run win.
The second match saw an even lower total of 129, but the team's disciplined bowling delivered a 27-run victory.
Litton's tactical captaincy played a key role in both games, earning praise from fans and experts alike.
While the bowlers were the driving force behind the victories, Shamim Hossain's late-order contributions were equally crucial. In the second match, he smashed an unbeaten 35 off just 17 balls, including two fours and two sixes, to push Bangladesh to a defendable total.
Litton acknowledged his impact, saying, "Batting on this pitch was very difficult; I realised that from the first ball I faced. I have to thank Shamim. He batted exceptionally well."
The bowlers' consistent ability to take wickets under pressure was the backbone of the team's success.
"It was a collective effort. Whoever came into the attack delivered wickets," Litton added, highlighting the team's all-round performance.
With the series already won, Bangladesh now aim for a clean sweep.
"We are in a good flow now. We need to go out there in the next match and play good cricket," Litton said, shifting focus to the final game.
The third and final T20I of the series is set to take place on Friday, 20 December, at the same venue.
