Asian Youth Handball: Bangladesh Women’s team off to India
Bangladesh will play defending champions South Korea in the opening match on August 21.
Bangladesh Women’s Handball team left here for India on Monday night to participate in the 8th Asian Women's Youth Handball Championship’2019 beginning in the Indian city of Jaipur on August 21.
They left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on an Air India flight around 9pm.
Bangladesh have been placed in the tough Group A along with defending champions South Korea, runners-up Japan, Uzbekistan and Chinese Taipei while Group B comprises of hosts India, PR China, Kazakhstan, Nepal and Mongolia.
Bangladesh will play defending champions South Korea in the opening match on August 21.
In the remaining group matches, Bangladesh Women’s team will play Japan on August 23, Chinese Taipei on August 25 and Uzbekistan on August 26.
A 19-member Bangladesh Handball team comprises of 14 players and five officials are looking for a good show in their maiden Asian Women's Youth Handball Championship.
On the eve of the departure, Bangladesh Women’s Handball team made a courtesy call with secretary general of Bangladesh Olympics Association (BOA) Syed Shahed Reza at the Olympic Bhaban.
