Avik keeps creating history, makes it 3 in 3 in UAE

Another international race, another history created by none other than Avik Anwar. He just won two races in a single day on Friday, and on Saturday won a 2-hour endurance race making it 3 in 3 in UAE.

This time he had Affan Sadat, another fellow Bangladeshi racer to race with him. 

Their team 'Team Bangladesh' raced for the first time together having raced against each other earlier. 

This was the first time two Bangladeshi raced together in an endurance race. 

"Alhamdulillah for everything! Bangladesh is not far behind in the motorsports sector, I did a clean sweep. Three wins in a row," Avik was quick to express his joy.

"I did it, we did it!  We made history for Bangladesh as a team, now we have another race winner amidst us."

The win didn't come that easily for Team Bangladesh. Their car faced a mechanical issue in the middle of the race and they lost precious minutes there. Still, they came back and came back like Avik always does.

"I thought we will win it easy but nothing comes easy in my life!"

"I let Affan start the race, he was doing really well till the car had a mechanical issue on lap 32 (45th minute) for which he had to come to the pits. The rear differential was damaged as Affan hit a curb unintentionally, mechanics got to work on the car and we lost out on time. 1 hr 5 mins left, I had to do the impossible, win the race and drive the car to the finish line," Avik described. 

Guess what? Avik did it. Team Bangladesh did it.

Avik came on a Facebook live following his victory. There he jokingly had a little dig at the Bangladesh national cricket team.

Avik had so many reasons not to race in this competition. His mother is fighting against Covid-19, he himself is sick and had to take antibiotics before the race. 

"I have a 1-inch tumour type thing on my forehead, having 2 antibiotics every day. I get sharp pain whenever I wear my helmet and I can barely feel my thumb," Avik told The Business Standard.

Still, he went on to race and won three in three, that too in an international competition. He didn't make any excuse. 

"Cricket team, you should learn from us not to make excuses! Everything was against us, still, we won the race," Avik told during the Facebook live. 

Avik plans not to race in the next two months. He has races lined up in Malaysia and Thailand and he said he needs to come back to the best physical condition for that. 

"I am not going to race for 2 months at least, I need to come back to the best physical condition for my Malaysian races."

Avik has a busy year ahead of him and he has more endurance races in Thailand and Malaysia where he plans to race together with Affan as Team Bangladesh.
