Bangladesh are in a tight spot after the first session has been played out in the first Test between Bangladesh and Pakistan at Rawalpindi as the visitors have lost three wickets to score 95.
Nazmul Hossain Shanto has been the pick of the Bangladeshi batsmen in the session as he was unbeaten on 44.
Put in to bat first, Bangladesh were in deep waters straight away. Both their openers were - Tamim Iqbal and Saif Hassan - were sent back within the second over. The debutant, Saif, chased a wide delivery to gift Asad Shafiq a catch at the slips off Shaheen Shah Afridi to get out for a duck on his debut.
Tamim, on the other hand, was initially given not out off Mohammad Abbas. But Pakistan's decision to review proved to be correct as replays showed that Tamim was indeed out for 3.
But from then on, skipper Mominul Haque and Shanto steadied the ship for Bangladesh. They put up a good stand of 59 runs as they tried to rebuild. But they were dealt another blow at the stroke of lunch as Mominul was sent back on 30 by Shaheen. Mominul went fishing to a wide delivery and only managed to nick it to the wicket-keeper.
Shanto and Mahmudullah Riyad saw out the rest of the session as they were unbeaten on 44 and 17 respectively. Shaheen picked up a couple of wickets with Abbas picking up the other.
