Bangladesh lucky to have Tamim as captain: Vettori
Vettori is delighted to be back to work after a long hiatus.
Daniel Vettori, Bangladesh's spin bowling consultant, wasn't there with the team during the series against the West Indies because of Covid-19. Now that Bangladesh are in New Zealand to play a series consisting of three ODIs and three T20Is, he has joined the team.
Vettori is delighted to be back to work after a long hiatus. "It's great to be back and see the players after so long. Also, it feels great to work with the spinners after a long time at the nets. Any outdoor activity is pleasing now. New Zealand is really lucky to continue sporting activities," he said.
Vettori feels that spinners can play a big part in the upcoming series. He mentioned, "Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi were successful in the last series. Even Ashton Agar and Adam Zampa played important roles. Spin bowling is of great significance in white-ball cricket. Having played so well against the West Indies, (Mehidy Hasan) Miraz has a lot to offer and he's experienced too. Mahedi (Hasan) and Nasum (Ahmed) are there as well."
"I think Bangladesh are really lucky to have Tamim (Iqbal) as captain. He is an open-minded person and knows very well what needs to be done. He knows about the challenges and will work hard on the aspects he lacked in the previous tour. We know New Zealand are a great side but I hope we have learned from the past," Vettori added.
