Barcelona prepare for life under Quique Setien

As FC Barcelona will take on Granada at the Camp Nou, the Blaugranas will have a new man on their driving seat in Quique Setien as the 61-year old was appointed last week after the club cut all ties with Ernesto Valverde. 

Barcelona fans were asking for a change in the head coach position since the Anfield debacle but Valverde managed to continue. The telling blow for Valverde came when  Barcelona lost to Atletico Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final and was knocked out. 

In Setien, the Cules have a follower of the late Johan Cruyff back in charge but the job for the former Real Betis and Las Palmas manager will not be easy as he will have to manage a side which has drifted away from Barcelona's unique philosophy under Valverde's reign. 

Setien's job has become even tougher as the manager has some key players missing for his first game in charge. Luis Suarez, Barcelona's deadly Uruguyan, will be out for four months and along with him, Setien also doesn't have the likes of Marc Andre Ter Stegen, Frenkie De Jong and Arthur Melo in his armoury for the Granada clash. De Jong is suspended after his first red card for Barcelona in their last game and both Arthur and Ter Stegen are suffering from injuries. 

Setien from his first day has said that he will be prioritizing youngsters and that might reflect on the first team he will field on Sunday as it has been rumoured that 20-year old La Masia graduate Riqui Puig is likely to start the match. Ansu Fati, Barcelona's sparkling sensation of this season is also likely to start as Antoine Griezmann will fill in for Luis Suarez in the middle. 

Setien has already changed things around in Barcelona as he has been conducting continuous training sessions since his arrival. He has already scheduled a training session on the morning of the matchday and has also banished announcing the matchday squad a day before the game. 

Changes are already happening at Barcelona following Setien's arrival but what the fans hope to is the change in the playing style of their team as Valverde was often criticized for being over-dependent on their sublime skipper Lionel Messi. But from what Setien showed with Real Betis and Las Palmas, the Blaugranas can hope that the Spaniard will be bringing back their scintillating style of football. 

If he doesn't, that is a different topic to discuss on another day. But the fans can surely hope now that Setien indeed will reinstall their unique style of playing the game.
